Head of Electrics
The Phoenix Theatre is one of the most beautiful theatres the West End has to offer, with its unique character and a rich history dating back to 1930. We are currently playing host to Stranger Things: The First Shadow, an exciting new play set in within the world and mythology of Stranger Things. It features an original story by Kate Trefy, The Duffer Brothers and Jack Thorne, with direction from Stephen Daldry and produced by Netflix and Sonia Friedman Productions.
Previously home to award-winning productions such as Blood Brothers, Come From Away, and more recently A Streetcar Named Desire, The Phoenix Theatre proudly sits in the centre of the West End, as one of the most beautiful venues in London. Stranger Things: The First Shadow will be opening with a new retail experience, exciting F&B offerings, as well opening a new foyer and bar area on Charing Cross Road. With audience access firmly at the front of what we are improving, a new lift will take our access patrons directly into the Dress Circle for some of the best seats in the house.
We are looking for a theatre lighting specialist to take on the role of Head of Electrics. This is an opportunity to take the lead on all electrical requirements for the theatre, including management of the LX department and our full time Deputy Head of Electrics.
As Head of Electrics you will work closely with the Technical & Buildings Manager and Head of Stage on the day to day running of the venue from a technical perspective. You will assist with delivering the technical requirements of the production from the venue LX perspective, the maintenance and upkeep of this beautiful 90 year old theatre ensuring high standards of health and safety compliance are maintained, and you will assist with the get ins, fit ups and get outs of visiting events and in any future resident productions.
To succeed in this role you'll need to be a clear communicator, able to develop an effective working relationship with our visiting companies, the venue team, colleagues in London theatres and ATG's central services as well as contractors and suppliers; additionally to technical knowledge, great people skills are vital in this role, along with a collaborative and pragmatic approach to problem solving. Please note regular evening and weekend work will be required.
